The star system calculates the number of pieces that were handled by Conchology, Inc. in the last 21 years:

We want to point out that the star system is only very reliable for PHILIPPINE shells only, as we handle very few foreign shells in general. As time goes, the system will become more and more performant.
Books For Sale
Books and journals are the cornerstones of any collection of shells. Without at least the basic works, it is virtually impossibly to acquire the necessary knowledge to build a lasting and valuable conchological collection. While at present one can find much knowledge online, the quality knowledge is only to be found in a library.
The sad news is that virtually no museums still acquire extensive libraries, and less than a dozen museums worldwide update their libraries with modern books and journals. This levels down incredibly the scientific conchological world. We hope for a change in the future and we hope museums will get the funding and know-how they deserve to get back to pre WWII levels when it comes to quality of contents and quality of libraries. In the meantime the importance of citizen scientists - who have the material and the libraries - has never ever been that high.
