Dall 1905b:36 mentions a manuscript name Strophia alta that was associated with this taxon in the USNM collections.
Fossil with C. eleutherae var., above "Glass Window,"
The fossil specimens agree closely with a specimen from Rum Cay, named for the U. S. National Museum by Mr. Maynard. It recalls C. grayi Maynard in its sculpture, but is smaller and more fusiform.
Clench (1934:209) believed Dall (1905:41) to be in error in citing C. maynardi as occurring on Rum Cay. He believed that an extreme form of C. lentiginosum was very probably identified as this species.
Clench (1934:209) reports this species from Cedar Point; 2 mi. SE of Cedar Point;
