Remarks:
Clench (1937) regarded this to be well differentiated and different from any in the Bahamas. He considered it a member of the gubernatorium group (fide Pilsbry 1902:240) perhaps nearest to C. eleutherae Pilsbry & Vanatta of southern Eleuthera Clench (1940:13-14) noted that this taxon "existed in great numbers, particularly on wild lillies." He also illustrated a specimen he believed to be a hybrid with C. caerulescens. Clench suggested that C. mcleani is nearest to C. mutatotium from the south end of Great Guana Cay, and indicated that such a distribution was difficult to explain other than "as some factor in mechanical distribution."
