Type Material:
Lectotype, ANSP 146964. Baker (1963:206) designated the lectotype based an illustrated specimen (fig. 10) and labeled it as ANSP 146964 a. Now ANSP 146964 (see Boyko & Rosenberg, 1999:46). ANSP 400359 contains 3 paralectotypes.

Remarks:
Boyko & Rosenberg (1999:46) discuss the attribution of this taxon to Pilsbry, and provide data on type specimens and type locality. These authors "have examined USNM 346663 from the Bahamas, labeled by Bartsch with this name [Cerion alleni] and the status "type" and conclude that is not a type specimen, nor even this taxon, but rather a homonymous Bartsch manuscript name."
