Cerion fordii

Pilsbry & Vanatta, 1897

Synonymy:
Original Description:
Geographic Distribution:
Cat Island, Bahama Islands
Type Locality:
Uknown / southern portion of Cat Island???
[24° 27' N, -75° 30' W]

Several hundreds of this species were obtained by Mr. John Ford from a barrel of shells from the Bahamas, exact island unfortunately unknown. On comparison with the nearly complete series of Cerion in the collection of the Academy it is evident that a new polymorphic species is before us, probably from an island or region of an island hitherto unexplored for this genus.

Clench (1938:529) noted that the exact locality of this species is still unknown. He suggested that "in all probability, it occurs on Cat Island, possibly in the southern portion of the island."
