Original description: "S. acceptoria new. Dwarfed, .94 [23.9 mm] by .36 [9.1 mm], very finely costate, apature [sic] small, paler, glaucous tinting much more pronounced. 200. Low Bay Key east of Rose Island [New Providence Island, Bahamas]." (Maynard, 1913:185).
Subsequent description: "136. S. acceptoria Mayn. Smaller, 1.00 by .40; costae 30, a little narrower than interspaces; yellow-white sparingly streaked with red brown. Southern end of Rose Island, Common. 528. Plate 41, figs. 5,6." (Maynard, 1921b:145)
