Suzanne Fabre-Taxy (1914–1993) spent her entire scientific career, from her studies until her retirement, at the Faculty of Sciences in Marseille. Entering the botanical laboratory in 1934, she enrolled in the same year for the geology certificate. Taking a liking to Earth sciences thanks to the teaching of Georges Corroy, she turned to a career as a geologist. First as a technical assistant and then as a temporary preparer, she was then responsible for practical work in cartography and paleontology and courses in regional and applied geology. In November 1940 she defended a thesis on the Cenomanian and the Turonian of Provence and obtained her doctorate with the honorable mention and the congratulations of the jury. She continued to teach at the Marseille laboratory, notably underwater geology, external geodynamics and paleontology, and was appointed lecturer in 1959 then professor without a chair in 1961. In addition to her university activities, she collaborated in the service of the geological map of France, but she mainly contributed to the study of the Upper Cretaceous of Provence, a theme on which she published numerous notes and five memoirs. She retired in 1974, but continued to give lectures in paleontology, a subject with the stratigraphy that she had helped to promote throughout her career - Edit
