Biography of P. La Clotte


  • Marie Jacques Philippe Mouton-Fontenille La Clotte is a naturalist and botanist French , born in 1769 in Montpellier and died on August 22 1837 . He studied at Montpellier with of Antoine Gouan . He became professor of natural history at the Academy of Lyon and curator of the museum of the city until his death. He published an adaptation of Classes plantarum Linnaeus in 1798 followed in 1805 the first French translation of the same system of plants Linnaeus. Member of the Academy of Lyon (1800 to 1837), he led the Lyon Museum of Natural History from 1816 to 1830. Captain Gaspard Michaud dedicated to him a snail, Helix fontenillii. - Edit
