English geologist and palaeontologist with an unique expertise in both micro- and molluscan Tertiary palaeontology - Edit
Joined the Malacological Society of Great Britain and Ireland in 1932. Elected to the Society's Council in 1949, he also served as Treasurer from 1951 to 1966 and as Vice-President from 1968 to 1975. He received his A.R.C.Sc. from the Royal College of Science in 1927 (lst class honors in Geology). He became a paleontologist for the Burmah Oil Company. In 1948 he returned to England and, partly based on the British Museum (Natural History), produced his thesis on the correlation of the Burmese Caenozoic, being awarded his PhD by the University of olondon in 1950 and his D.Sc. in 1953. In 1950 he joined the Paleontology Department of British Petroleum, reaching the position of Chief Paleontologist, retiring in 1966. He produced a series of important publications on Tertiary molluscs of India, Pakistan and Nigeria. - Edit
